September PR Video
hey asb!
the september PR video just aired this monday—being our first video of the year, we'd love to hear feedback to improve our upcoming ones this year :)
things that went well:
- most filming was done on time, according to planned time
- most groups had script ready
things to improve on:
- we were filming 2 days before the draft was supposed to be played in class
- final video sent to Mrs. Kirsh on morning of
- workaround for teachers who don't want to play it in class?
- no den access during the weekend
feel free to add thoughts + any feedback is welcome! super proud of this video and hope to make future ones amazing :D

Hey pr and tech!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, super great video being both informative yet entertaining :) Personally, I liked the background music in low volume while there were more speech based segments. Also, the inclusion of QR codes along with the links were along great just as a quicker option to visit links. My only suggestion would to be leaving links on screen for even longer (maybe start displaying them on the side earlier??) just so people get more time as some sections like the asb card/yearbook section the QR code was on for quite awhile but the link flashed by really quickly. Otherwise, super great video and I look forward to future ones :)

hihi as someone who worked on the video I think overall it was pretty good especially considering its the first video of the year and everyone is still getting sort of situated with asb and school in general. I think the general timeline was pretty good for filming, there was a lot of time, and it was also good that everyone memorized their lines well before filming. I think there were some last-minute signups, so I think it would be good if the PR lead checks in with each commission in person and also that commissions are aware of PR video signup deadlines. As for playing the video in classes, I think we had this same issue last year and years before, I think it's just difficult to remind teachers to play the video, so I think the best we can continue to do is upload the video onto the ASB Instagram, and also possibly make a PA announcement to remind teachers to play the video. Other than that I think it was a good video! Kudos to Edward and Gio for being great to work with :))

Hi guys!
ReplyDeleteAnother Tech x PR W. I really liked the tone of this PR video especially since it was the first one of the year and had that 'summer-y' vibe to it. First off all when it comes to recording/editing coming close to the due date, I think the main solution is to have clear and undebatable times for recording, since a good schedule with a small margin for error will allow you guys to get stuff done on time. Being strict about recording times allow things to be much smoother and sets a precedence for people respecting due dates for these videos. Overall I though the video was really good and i'm excited to see how both tech and pr will improve over this schoolyear!

Hey guys, I believe overall the PR video was pretty well done, and as the first one of the year it was a great introduction to the school year with a nice vibe for returning/new students. From the view of someone who was not part of the production of the video, I thought it ran fairly well but the two main concerns I could find were timing and watchability. By timing I don't mean the pacing or anything was bad, because that was all great. I mean to say that when important signup links or other things are shown, there isn't a lot of time for people to take out their device and sign up for it while it's being streamed in class. This led to a lot of discouragement for signing up because a lot of people I talked to did not want to go rewatch the entire video on instagram just to find the link. Another thing was watchability in the sense that some teachers didn't stream it or students just didn't pay attention due to it being during tutorial. I believe this could be fixed by moving it to an advisory, as everyone tends to be busy or moving around during open tutorials. With these aside, it was a genuinely good watch and got me excited for the school year, so great job, and I'm looking forward to the future PR videos as well.

HELLO PR + TECH
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the PR video (like always)!! They're always so well edited and the background music fits the videos so nicely. With the whole rush of this video, starting earlier (especially for the first video, maybe over the summer) and setting time restraints for filming will definitely help a lot with time and stress.
I think someone mentioned during class that it might be time to move away from PR videos, but I personally think they're really important to keep because of how it has all information in one place and how people look forward to them. So, I think adding them to the advisory agendas OR asking teachers to just inform students abt the vid at the start of tutorial + making the vids more engaging could be a workaround. BUT YEAH good job!

Hey PR! I think you guys did an amazing job for the first PR video of this year. I really like the editing and overall vibe of it. I think something you guys can improve on is doing recording earlier on so that the PR video can include events like Club Info Week. Also I feel like we all should spend more time making our individual segments more entertaining rather than just having it be us talking into the camera. For example the Spirit Week segment was funny and informative and I think we should try and make every other segment more like that one. Overall you guys did an amazing job and I am excited for the next one!

heloo,
ReplyDeleteSuper great job on the first video of the year!! here's my feedback:
1) The transitions between different segments of the video could have been smoother, with something coherent connecting the whole video (like the October PR video from last year)
2) As previously mentioned by several people, displaying the QR codes / links on the video could have been longer. To keep the video going while allowing people to access various links, a side bar with all the information could be put on.
3) Since teachers aren't inclined to / forget to play these PR videos during tutorial, one solution would be to have 2-3 ASB students drop by each room during tutorial to remind teachers. Or, a link to the video could also be put up on each teacher's whiteboard for students to access. (just an idea!)
Das it, super great job on the video!!
heyyyy pr!
ReplyDeleteGood job with the first video of the school year! I loved the overall vibes of the video as it felt really warm and welcoming on. Moving onto further videos you guys should always keep in mind of the timing each commission takes up when filming, especially when theres multiple commissions filming per day. You would obviously want to get filming done asap so you can give tech enough time to edit so its best not to push back filming. Like I mentioned in class, try setting a timer for each commission during those days. Another thing to keep in mind which looks like it turned out great this month was having commissions memorize their script and continue emphasizing that, maybe even send reminders the day before filming to remind them to memorize and even wear the appropriate attire for the theme. This was mentioned in class but I really like the idea of having a super short clip of announcements per week on the instagram page. This will definitely be hard for those who do not have instagram so adding onto that maybe have Ms. Kirsh send out a schoology blast at the beginning of each week with a list of upcoming or ongoing events + link to the short video that covers it. Just putting out more ideas here!! Overall amazing job, can't wait for next month!!!

hi guys!
ReplyDeletefirst PR vid was a big success. i think that everyone reposting the instagram reel definitely helped increase interest and viewership. to improve timing, you could possibly set harder deadlines for each filming session. for example, X commission NEEDS to be done on wednesday, even if it means filming after or before school. (hopefully this would just up productivity during breakout filming instead of give you guys more work hahah) continuing with the instagram reels idea, you could clip the skits (10-15 seconds, the most important part) for big upcoming events and post them a couple days before the event date. the video format is inviting in a way graphics sometimes aren't. reels also wouldn't take away from youtube's accessibility because the video is already on youtube. it would only increase awareness for the event.
cant wait to see more videos! <3

hi PR and tech!
ReplyDeleteloved the first vid of the year! our biggest issue last year was getting filming done on time and people memorizing their scripts so seeing that it wasn't an issue this year is really good improvement. in terms of getting the video submitted late, i think this being the first video of the year allows for great insight into how long editing and other misc work after filming takes so it will only improve from here. additionally i really like the event recaps you guys add in there so keep it up!

Hi PR and Tech! I enjoyed the september video a lot, I thought it was interesting and slightly funny <3 For filming I think you might want to consider adding strict rules for students who want to film. For example, since you want to be able to film and have a good amount of time to edit, I think you should have a cut off for filming rule. Try to tell others that filming needs to be done a week before draft is due so ur not rushed. Yes it is slightly cruel but it'll be helpful and I'm sure everyone in ASB and other school groups would be nice enough to consider the hard work you have to do after and respect your time. Either way, great first video, cant wait to see the next one!

Hiya pr + tech!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the first pr video of the year! I thought it was extremely engaging and well-made. I think potentially one thing you guys can do is give yourself some more buffer time between the draft release date and scheduled filming, maybe like a week; this way you have more time to work on it and resolve unexpected issues. Overall, fantastic job!
- Alex
Hey PR + Tech!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, amazing job! I think it was really well done and I really enjoyed watching it! I think for the future I would say put up more pop up graphics on the screen whenever somebody references an event/detail because it can really serve as a good visual reminder. Also, I think that releasing videos during advisories might be something you guys could look into if you wanted! Overall, amazing job!
- Kimaya
Hi PR!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the September PR video! I thought it was really informative and fun, and I enjoyed watching it. A few pieces of feedback that I have would be to maybe have a cap for how long a clip can last, because people have short attention spans. Another idea is for each commission to run through their script right before filming once to make sure they have it memorized. If they don’t, then perhaps PR could move on to another commission and come back after they have a chance to become more familiar with the script. I don’t know if it might make PR’s job harder, but it’s an idea. Overall, great job with the PR video and I’m very excited to see the next one!

hey PR & tech!!
ReplyDeletethanks for putting on an amazing first pr video and i loved watching it! the pacing of the video was great and i didn't feel overwhelmed even though there was a lot of incoming information. something we can consider adding is a "table of contents" slide/part in the beginning of the video to give students an overview of what will be covered. also, having a cute dressup/video theme would be cute as well! i know we had a discussion about having shorter videos or breaking announcements into smaller bits. do you think it would be easier to put together reels for certain events e.g. rally recap, fall night market, etc. so they each gain individual traction instead of compiling them? at the same time, i do recognize that not everyone uses instagram and the pr videos are more accessible since theyre on youtube. also commissions can def be pushed to explore creative skits/segments instead of just "hey lynbrook!..." hahaha sometimes a simple announcement works but sometimes it can be spiced up. maybe that can be pr's lead dev? :O
overall keep up the great work! can't wait to see the future pr vids
xx
sarah
hey guys!!
ReplyDeleteamazing first pr vid of the year! even though promoting the pr vids are hard this year due to no homeroom, i do believe utilizing social media is the best option. people are probably not going to watch a full length pr vid on their own time so maybe trying out reels could work? i know its hard to condense all the information needed into a short video but maybe we could start posting weekly updates on the lynbrookasb ig to keep people up to date. even if they are not watching the pr vids, they will still be shown the dates of important events on their feed while scrolling through instagram. for event recaps/ promo i do think giving them their own individual video would be helpful. people would most likely watch it fully since they are shorter in length. pr vids are hard to keep entertaining but you guys did a great job!
-aarya <3
hey guys
ReplyDeletegreat first vid I enjoyed it heavily! to be honest i think it is kind of hard to get across this new email system. I think if theres maybe a way to email all students it through a mailing list that could be a possible solution or if we are able to just come to a solution with the union. I think instagram is a good way to spread it although i think it maybe smart to make reels out of different specific announcements so that way it is easier to watch for viewers since most people might not want to watch all 10 minutes on ig. I think short form content is the way to go though from now on. Good video though most definitely.

Hey PR + tech!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job on the first PR video! I think it was great that there weren't any commissions unprepared to film, which makes it easier on your part. To make sure that filming is done on time though, maybe set strict deadlines as to when filming needs to take place and send out reminders for those dates. As for the actual content of the video, I like how it was kind of an introductory to Lynbrook type of vibe. If I'm being picky, there's a couple of clips with construction noise in the background like PR's vikepound sales clip. As some other people also mentioned above, having the links/event info stay up longer would also be better e.g. the summary slide of all the events at the very end. Overall, great job and so excited to see more vids!
-Nina
Hi yall!
ReplyDeleteGread job on the PR video! Really like the changes y'all made between the draft and final as they made the video flow really well. I think we should incentivize/encourage clubs to have a bit more engaging scripts, so it isn't just people reading to the camera. I liked the slides at the end and the funny allison clip. Good work!
- Shyon
Hey guys
ReplyDeleteGreat way to start the year with this first PR video! I really enjoyed how smooth and seamless the video was to watch. I think that everything was done well, but I do agree with many that we should find a way to both shorten and create a way that "motivates" students to want to watch the videos every month. Good work!
-Colin
Hi PR/Tech!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the September PR video! The first vid of the year is always hard because peoples' schedules are always messed up in the first couple weeks of school with so many events, so great job on pulling thru! I thought that all aspects of the video were great, but one constructive suggestion that I have for the future is to have a cohesive theme throughout the video, for example, the pumpkin in last years October PR vid, so that the transitions between scenes are shorter. Of course, that may not be needed in the future if we decide to eliminate the full-on PR video and only post clips on Insta, but if we do post the full video, it would make it seem less like we are just putting the clips together. Another suggestion for this could be having the PR vid project leads act as narrators between each clip, which was in the March PR vid of last year :) Keep it up!
-Jeff
HI PR!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with your first PR video. Just like I mentioned in class, I think that with the current schedule that we have, the current PR video format is outdated. If we are going to post it on social media, it needs to be in a shorter format if you want people to actually receive the information. Overall, great video and im excited for the future ones!
-satvik
hey PR, i already told u most of my feedback in class but ill reiterate here:
ReplyDeletei thought this PR video was the best ive seen so far. the music, transitions, and flow of the video were all great. i think the color grading was a lot but it was a choice that i respect!!! it made the video that much more interesting to watch. reels posting was good, promo was good, it was overall good. great job! excited to see more.

Hello PR/Tech,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the amazing PR video, and also, helping out with the Fall Night Market Promo for this PR video. Here is some of my feedback: When I asked friends if they had watched the September PR Video, majority of them said that they didn't. I feel like the few things that discourage the watching of the PR video would be that returning students expect to watch it during tutorial while new students don't know enough about it. A few suggestions would be to promote the ASB Instagram account as well as created a more a of reels or shorts approach. This way freshmen will be able to watch the clips and it will be more coinvent to watch. You could separate by events so that the videos could server as additions of information to the graphics and what not. And at the same time, you could still release PR videos on the YouTube channel with a longer but more compilations like vibe. Either way, I really like watching the current videos. Keep up the good work.
Ivan
Hey PR+Tech!
ReplyDeleteThe September PR video was incredible! I really loved how cute and creative all the commission introduction videos were. In regards to getting teachers to play the video, while it may not be allowed to ask teachers to play the video, maybe Ms. Kirsh can send an email blast right before 4th period to all teachers and students simply telling them that the video is out. That way, teachers who want to play it will then open up the link to play it. A little reminder if you will. Once again, the video was amazing; great job PR+Tech!!
- Emma
hiii pr!! great job on the pr video <33 i think having claire send a notification to lynbrook app users would be a good way to get more ppl to watch! i also think the transitions can be more flowy. three years ago, each commission was told which commission was before and after them and had to coordinate so that their transitions were smooth. maybe this is smth you all want to implement! great job again!!
ReplyDelete- esha
hi pr and tech,
ReplyDeletegreat video! I think that it would be better for the mental health of tech if you guys can be more strict about when you can film and when you can't and be harder on people who don't have their scripts or aren't ready and need to reschedule. other than that great job on the video!
