November/December PR Video

 hey asb!

the november/december PR video just aired last Wednesday, and we'd love to hear your feedback to improve our upcoming ones next semester!

Things that went well:
- we got content!
- we were able to play it in classrooms during announcements
- hoco Recap carried the video
- first club spotlight of the year

things to improve on:
- figuring out how to adapt to new filming schedules
- last minute edits + stressful getting the link out the day before
- club spotlight: less background noise and making it more engaging
- making the video more engaging in general

feel free to add thoughts + any feedback is welcome! we'd love to know if the short formed content is better and how to make it even better :) can't wait for future vids! maybe even speak on some touchy subjects (like if you think we should continue pr vids)

  1. heyo pr and tech,
SUPER great nov/dec pr video! Being able to play the video during annoucements definetely helped more people view the video as a time is designated specifically for it. Maybe for the future, tech could designate specific dates (more towards the end) that are solely for makeups for any issues with new filming schedules. For club spotlight, clips during clubs or seeing how the club actually works would be nice. Seeing multiple clubs just speaking to the camera gets a bit repetitive after awhile. This was also mentioned in class today, but having letters scattered around the video and then putting the letters together for a word on the lhs app could make the video more engaging and provide another purpose to viewers.
For the last minute edits -- so sorry about the last minute change from 2026 due to a change in date last minute. Thank you all so much for being able to adjust and adapt so quickly!

  2. hallo pr & tech!
thanks for putting on such a christian-girl-autumn + cute pr video!! here are some things to keep in mind for future videos:
    - it could make videos more engaging if you bring back themes! i remember the may pr video had a news/reporting theme. the themes can also be based on the holidays or random!
    - club spotlight segment: make sure to add a text/info box that stays on screen throughout the club's intro that covers their meeting location/times, club logo, and instagram handle. that way, the info will still be there if someone zones out for a hot second when the officers are talking. you can also include a quick pic of the club instagram profile!

to make the video more accessible, would it be possible to integrate watching the video with getting points on the app? like if they finish watching the video on the app, they get some points
you guys did a great job adapting to last minute changes and the video looked amazing!

  3. hey pr x tech!

the video was super entertaining, as always, and whoever edited the hoco recap deserves like... a really good ice cream cone... major props!

i know that the scheduling for filming was really packed and hectic. social wasn't able to secure a slot in this pr video due to the video time limits. the hecticness is just a side effect of you guys adjusting to the new guidelines, and i think by the next video it'll all be smoothed out.

in the future, u might want to clip parts of the video and post them right before the respective events to remind ppl + get more use out of the video.

thank u sm for ur hard work!

  4. Hi PR!

The nov/dec PR vid was SO SLAY! The Hoco recap segment got me excited for hoco all over again, and it really carried all that excitement and happiness. To increase engagement, I think that PR should include somewhere a place for people to get points on the app. I know a lot of people like collecting the points, so that would be really helpful. Club spotlight can be improved by cutting it down from three clubs to two or even one, and just trying to make the clips more engaging in general. Overall, PR did amazing and I can’t wait to watch all the PR vids.

  5. hi pr + tech!!

i feel like with pr videos theres always going to be some filming aspect of it that gets pushed back because of things we cant predict. in general, i believe time is key so giving yourself more time than anticipated for filming/editing/refilming would be ideal. i think the general time frame to start these is about a month? giving yourself the extra few weeks to handle any problems that come your way will make it easier to get things done in time.

for club spotlight, i love sophias idea of the subway surfer letter finding! i think this will definitely incentivize people to gain a few more lynbrook spirit points on the app and also involve the app more. hiding big letters that spell out a word periodically throughout the video will force people to actually watch the whole thing and not skip through just to find the letters. you could make it so that the letters pop up and fill the screen for a second or so. i also think having themes with the videos keep it more creative and not so textbook pr video. last year we tried incorporating each months holiday/making up our themes with the video. a popular theme we used last year was making sure everyone in the video wore the same color (february was valentines day so we wore pink). overall great job with getting the video out in time and creating another amazing pr video!!

  6. hi pr+tech!

i realize you guys think that this pr video was a little bit rushed due to filming times, but sometimes, especially during november pr video where tons of people are sick, you really can't help it. additionally, i think you guys did a great job getting the vid under 5 mins; i recall ali telling me about cutting some groups out due to timing and making it more first-come first serve, which makes sense.

also col u went crazy with that editing🐐

  7. omg HI AGAIN pr and now hello tech!!
good job on the pr video and especially in the beginning, that was so cute!! for making the video more engaging, definetly keep the themes going for each video. Last year's november/december pr video was centered around a winter theme so maybe try adapting something like that towards the january pr video. in addition to that, sophia's idea of word hunting throughout the video is very creative. with that you guys can also implement the lynbrook app within it by allowing students to submit the word to the lynbrook app for spirit points. As for the timing, like aarya mentioned above, delays are bound to happen due to unexpected situations. I would suggest having a cutoff date on when to film, most likely a week before the video comes out so tech has enough time to edit. it might be hard to say no to the commissions that want to add in something last minute but of course adding in things according to your schedule and flexibility. I think having a stricter deadline for the commissions would make it a lot easier for you guys. once again awesome job and can't wait for january!

  8. Hey PR and Tech

Good job at yet another fire PR video. Colin you went absolutely crazy with editing so large kudos to you. I really liked the intro to the video and the music. I loved the whole cozy and cute vibe that was there throughout the video. The video got a bit slow when it came to club spotlight but I get how that part is up to the clubs but hopefully in the future we can get clubs to submit videos of there meetings to spice that part up a bit. As for showing the video in class I don't know how that went in other classrooms but my class did not show it at all. You guys did an amazing job and I am super excited for the January PR Video!

  9. hi pr & tech,

good job on the nov/dec pr video! given how hectic some of the scheduling & the new guidelines were, ya'll adapted super well. plus the editing was hella cool. here are a few of my suggestions / improvements:
    1) although it's ultimately up to the club's jurisdiction as to what their segment of the club spotlight should look like, all of their links should be plugged while they're talking, so can viewers can explore them while watching >> (website, instagram, member registration, interest form, etc...)
    2) next, it's inevitable that commissions will push back their filming date; making it pretty unrealistic to edit and release the video on time. as stella mentioned above, id just have a strict cutoff date on when filming can/can't happen anymore. saying no is okay guys :')

  10. Hey techxpr!

Good job with this months video, I think it was really nice to end off the year with such a cool editing job. I think this is a great example of how you can use 5 minutes to make a video that succinctly promotes what the students need to know for this months. I think this proves that we can continue the PR vids as long as we keep to the 5 minute mark. Now that PR vids are confirmed to continue, we should really stress to teachers the importance of showing them in class.

  11. Hey tech & PR! I think that this video was so cool and super well edited! I think that the timing was perfect and the video was shot super well! The only one thing I would say is that in the future, during the club spotlight portion, maybe we could have some light background music to cover up some of the background noises. Overall, amazing job!

  12. hey tech x pr!

great job this month with the pr video! the recaps were so cool and overall the video was extremely clean. i think on our side there were a lot of issues with my CO team being absent due to the flu going around. we weren't able to film due to this, and though this issue can't be solved we should maybe just note down for next year that this time of the year is flu-ridden so filming may be a bit more difficult to organize because of that. you guys were extremely understanding of our situation so thank you guys so much for that!

  13. Hi tech + pr!!!
Phenomenal work on the PR video for this month! I think the hoco Recap was amazing and really added to the video. As for club spotlight, I definitely agree that it could be a little more engaging with the students. I think that for the future, instead of having clubs only sit there and talk, we can show footage of the meetings over a voiceover. This may allow it to be a little more fun for students to watch! Overall, fantastic job on the PR video!!

  14. hey pr + tech!!

the nov/dec video was so fun and creative (the intro >>) on the discussion points, i agree with making the club spotlights more engaging. in class, someone mentioned going to the actual meetings and getting some content there. i also think you guys could add the clubs' insta page, website, or any forms of social media that they use. to make the video more engaging in general, you guys could also do creative transitions. in the past, people have thrown pumpkins in between frames, used creative puns, emceed in between, etc. overall, such as amazing job and i'm so excited for the more videos to come!

  15. Hi guys!

Great job on the PR video! For club spotlight specifically, I think that we could use b-roll footage and over lay it over the clubs talking so it is more engaging. I think the flow of the video was really nice and I liked the editing style. Great work!

  16. Hi pr + tech!

Thank you for working so hard on the November/December PR video! It was so cute and fun to watch. To make the video more engaging, It might be fun for students to wear winter themed clothes and maybe tint the video winter colors to make it feel festive. If coordinating clothes is too much work, there can some shared accessories that u guys brings every filming (ex. a scarf) that students could put on. Great job as always!

great job on the nov/dec pr video!! i thought the editing was awesomeee. i agree with emma that a cool idea would be adding a theme to the video. this could include similar clothing, or maybe a prop! thanks for the amazing video!

  18. hi pr+tech!
the editing was sick (COINCOW ON TOP ‼️) but the world is changing and i think in the future pr videos need to be really condensed or else people aren't really going to pay attention to the entire thing. Its not about the content or the editing but more about getting the important info to them quickly. good luck!

  19. hey tech and pr, amazing job with the video, it was fun to watch and the editing was on point (colin W). I think maybe it could help to make the videos more concise as well, because the average lynbrook student's attention span is pretty horrible and getting to the point faster in the actual content should help with attentiveness to the videos. amazing job everyone!

  20. hi pr !!

one way to promote the nocember pr video every year could be to advertise it as "hoco recap" on lynbrookasb, so that students are more incentivized to watch it. of course, we could also release it seperately, but especially for people who are still reminiscing about hoco, that could be a really quick way to drive traffic to the link. we could do similar things for each months pr videos (for example, rally recap, wf recap), since people like to see themselves + their friends.

  21. Hi Pr and Tech,

Great job with the Pr video, and as always, I love the music choices and taste. Here are my suggestions on your bullets notes of improvement:

"figuring out how to adapt to new filming schedules" - I stated this in a previous post for Pr and tech but i think plotting the year out before hand would be a smart decision. You could make it an annual kinda of promotion/tech planning meeting and have all the things that need pr and fliming to be set in stone beforehand so that everyone knows how much work they have to do as well as the timeline for all the events and promotion.

"club spotlight: less background noise and making it more engaging" - I think upping the content int he club spotlight would be best. Have the clubs submit a recording of their activities with a voice over rather than a video of them just talking. And if you choose to do this make sure to link preferred programs/methods.

"making the video more engaging in general" - A way to make the videos more engaging would be to up the editing. By this I mean smoothing things out, putting different and more cinematics in the shots, etc. While this will heavily increase your workload, its a way of making the video more engaging but keeping the overall time of the video the same. Make sure to plot of timeslots for each of the commissions and be strict about it. This way you can make sure you have space for more engaging things. Another suggestion would be to edit the scripts of the commissions or at least put suggestions which might make it more interesting.
