  1. Hi PR!!
Nice job w/ holiday decs and working so hard right before break! To push for a true holiday spirit, I would suggest that decs are placed in one common area with a lot of emphasis placed in that one area. This way, rather than more spread out decs that students might not pay attention to, decs are more emphasized in areas which make them more noticeable and push out the spirit more. I definitely like the idea of playing music in either the cafe or quad, and if you choose to play music in the quad, you could add another activity such as decorating a Christmas tree, a large snowflake, or some sort of activity where other commissions are involved to make students more involved. You could also involve clink?? to take the opportunity to educate students on different holidays, and could try reaching out to certain clubs (ex. cultural clubs and how they celebrate the holidays, art clubs for decoration projects). Maybe you could look into a bingo card activity where students can visit classrooms or areas around the school relating to the different holidays to earn some sort of prize (spirit points or an acutal object). Great job PR!!

  2. hello pr
the decs were super cute! i'm an avid believer of go big or go home, so i definitely encourage you guys to do do a lot more for every single holiday in order to truly give off holiday spirit around campus, this means:
    1) playing holiday themed music, or projecting ambience videos on youtube that relate to the holiday
    2) putting the decs at much more noticeable locations; i'm pretty sure most students don't use or view the auditorium during school hours
    3) giving decs a purpose other than decor- like adding info cards on each dec to educate students on the holiday
    overall super great job pr

  3. hey pr,
holiday decs were a nice touch to campus, but one thing I noticed (that I was also guilty of) was that during dead week and finals week I was too focused on academics to actually get the holiday vibe. my favorite decoration was the auditorium lobby, although I feel like you guys could have made a bit more of a scene with fake snow (if you're willing to deal with the cleanup). going along with the topic of collabs, I think someone might have mentioned this in class but reaching out to art-related clubs to help with the decs might really enhance the job and make it easier for you guys. great work as usual!

  4. hi pr,

great job on the holiday decs!! I really like the direction you guys took with this project, I remember in the past, there was always this emphasis to "avoid" holidays, as in just making winter decorations, but I really like how pr is pushing towards a direction of just embracing all holidays rather than trying to avoid it altogether. I think music would definitely be something great to have next year, and I think that as others have said before, somehow getting the teachers involved, whether it's decorations on the door or something inside, since students still spend most of their time inside a classroom, so that's the place where they'll most notice decorations. Other than that, great job!!

  5. hey pr!

great job with winter decs this year! the fun decorations around campus really lightened the mood during the stress of finals week, and got everyone excited to head off into winter break. personally, i really liked the silver swirly stars on the trees because they stood out around campus. i also think a decorated tree would be adorable. students can decorate ornaments to put on it, and we can keep it in the cafeteria to encourage holiday spirit. overall, amazing job pr, and i can't wait to see winter decs again next year:)

  6. hey pr!!

the holiday decs were super pretty to look at and im glad you guys were able to incorporate multiple holidays into this event. as far as engagement goes, i am certain more people would interact with them if there was an incentive such as spirit points. this would also help more people use the lynbrook app even if it is only a point or two that they receive. you guys could hide qr codes on certain decs each day so people are forced to look at them. also you could limit the number of times people can scan a qr code for points so there is a cap.

i also think collabs with other commissions would be cool. for example, there could be a collab with rec (if we have enough money in our budget lol...) to hand out freebies of items related to each holiday. people always like freebies even if it is something small so this could help interaction with the decs. overall super cute decs and great job!!

  7. Hii pr!!

i loved the holiday decs and I definitely felt that the campus looked a lot more festive! For me, the decs I noticed the most was the tinsel in the cafeteria. In the future, I think putting decs in more noticeable places together will make the campus feel more full. As for the discussion questions, I like the idea of having music in the cafe and/or quad. Playing festive music and maybe projecting one of those 24/hr winter/fireplace loop videos on youtube on the projector would be cute. Overall, amazing job with the decorations PR!

  8. Hey PR!

Great job with holiday decs! You guys went all out and it was really amazing to see your hard work come to fruition. I think going forward, you should involve mini activities and games (potential collab with spirit) to really make the week feel special and to add on to the decorations you are making.

  9. Hai pr!

Awesome job with holiday decs, I love how you guys were able to implement various holiday traditions in one event, that really made everyone feel included!! For me, the decs weren't as visible as the Halloween decs, maybe try utilizing the poles and trees in the bushes to as decorating props. As for engagement with the student body, I think you guys can continue to encourage students to take pictures with the decs and earn spirit points. In addition to that you can add the sticker feature on Lynbrook ASB so students can post pictures using that sticker. Overall I loved how you guys were able to implement all aspects of the holidays and I can't wait for more this year.

  10. Hi PR!

Great Job with holiday decs this year. I really appreciated how you guys were able to show so many different cultures and I think alot of people appreciated this. I really like the idea of having some sort of music being played in the quad or cafeteria during this season since it would definetly add to the vibe alot.

  11. Hello PR!!

Amazing job with holiday decs!! I loved how festive the campus looked around dreary finals season haha. In the future it would be fun to have MITQ for a Friday in the event blasting holiday music and definitely having decs that are more interactive. Maybe something like a snowflake cutting booth or having candy canes people can grab hanging from the bushes outside the den..This is also a really good opportunity to interact with and support clubs/student groups on campus such as art clubs or different cultures.
Overall really good job and I'm really excited to see PR decs in the future!

  12. Hey PR!

Amazing job with Holiday decs! It was so great to see the festive colors and decorations around campus and really added to the holiday spirit. I really appreciate PR for taking on the daunting task of trying to decorate the huge Lynbrook campus. Some ideas as said in the outro is to have some more engagement in the event. I think that having this be worth spirit points would greatly incentivise people to start dressing up. Further, considering some fun instagram promotional stories could be nice. Finally, collaborating with clubs like artreach and public art to make some more decorations could increase the amount of ground we can cover. Overall, amazing job and I’m excited for next year.

  13. Hello!

I remember that during 2023's freshman year (2019) we hung up snowflakes on fishing line in the hall between the social studies wing and the ASB den. I mention this because I remember really vividly thinking that it gave the campus a very "winter wonderland" feel, and perhaps is something you could replicate (and potentially use a LeadDev to make snowflakes!). To add to the "snowy" vibe, we could use the cotton that we use for webs during Halloween as fake snow (#reuse #sustainable). Great job this year, and good luck in the next!

  14. Hello PR!

I know its been a while but great work on the Holiday decs! It was fascinating to see the Lynbrook campus decorated with things to celebrate multiple holidays. I think it's definitely a good idea to potentially make decs that teachers can put in their classroom so they can be rewarded with these along with this hopefully solving the problem of decs getting stolen. Along with that, I think it'd be pretty cool to hold a session where students can make decs for around the campus (kind of like the lunar new year laterns but for like around campus....) I'm not sure how well this will work but overall, great job this year! (last year?)

  15. Hey PR!

Great job on the holiday decs! I really liked that you all represented different cultures in your decorations. I feel like the decs in the cafeteria were not very visible so I think moving those to the quad and through the halls would be more effective. There were also not enough candy canes to be put around the school so they seemed very out of place. Lastly the communication for when setup started was a little confusing since the doc and the message you sent to the gc said different times. Anyways amazing job. I am looking forward to the next decoration event.

  16. Hey PR!

great job on the holiday decs! The decs were spread out a lot and a lot of people pointed out to me that they thought it was odd to see a snowflakes every 3 trees. Something you guys can try is to concentrate the decs near the asb den where most people will walk by because you can get more exposure for the limited budget.

  17. Hey PR!

Good job on holiday decs! I loved the decorations as it gave such a nice touch. I think one thing to think about is either go big or go home. I know we have a lot of access streamers and other items that you can use in the public shelf in the asb den. Considering the limited budget, I'd suggest borrowing from social or other commissions/utilizing what we already have to create a more festive feel.

  18. Hello PR,
It's been quite a while since the time when you guys did holiday decorations, but they were memorable enough for me to still remember the decorations. So good job and kudos to you all. I really liked the tinsel and streamers. A side note about this would be borrowing decorations from social. Social has a large number of decorations that relate to the winter theme due to the Winter Formal. In this sense, it would be an amazing idea to borrow decorations from social. We have tinsel, weights for balloons (balloons may be stolen so maybe not the best idea), and medium-large sized snowflake lights. On the topic of lights, it would be really cool if you guys could maybe place lights on a poster or something as decoration. I believe that it would simulate the “Wow it's snow”-ish look. And it is much more plausible to happen as compared to having a snowmachine.

  19. Hey PR,
I really loved the holiday decs. I liked that we included different holidays and created a slightly less dead campus during finals. I think that it would be a good idea to integrate the Lynbrook App into the event to increase engagement. We could also have students cut their own snowflakes beforehand that we could hang up around the school for the same reason. Great work!

  20. hi pr!
the tinsel and streamers made the cafeteria so cute! especially because it was such a gloomy time, i think this was a great idea. i think we could definitely increase inter-commission collaboration. for example, PR could coordinate decorations with rec's winter wellness days (like fake snow for hot cocoa) or with spirit (bright winter themed streamers around the gym on winter rally day), even blue lights in the cafeteria the friday before winter formal?

    love, kyrsten

  21. Hey PR! Amazing job on holiday decs, it was a great way to liven up the campus a little for the festive time. I think that something (not just for this specific event but for all campus dec events) that should be considered is finding a more centralized place that everyone goes to (the quad and/or cafeteria) and just focus all the effort and decs in there. Transforming the campus is a nice idea but usually it ends up being a few stray decs here and there and it makes the whole experience a lot less impactful than it could be. Focusing on those major areas alone could increase the desired affect of the week. Great job!

  22. hi pr!

great job on holiday decs, i really loved the variety and visibility of all your decorations and they definitely made the campus more lively. I think one way to increase student and teacher involvement is including a dress up day where people can wear colors or items that represent the winter holiday they celebrate. Furthermore, music in the quad would definitely make the campus more lively, so it's definitely worth it even though it's a stressful time for all students. Maybe just doing it one or two days of the week (for tech's sanity) would be good. overall, great job pr!

  23. Hey PR! I think you guys did an amazing job on the holiday decs! I really liked how visible and large scale they were, as I believe they fostered a fun holiday environment on a bigger scale! I would say for next time maybe buy some more tulle so we can cover the full cafeteria with it, but overall I think it was an amazing concept and you guys executed it very well!

  24. Hey PR! Absolutely fantastic job on holiday decs! I loved the variety of decs and it really helped boost the holiday spirit! Maybe something to look into next year is to get a really large scale noticeable decs, such as an inflatable penguin. Overall, great job!

  25. Hey pr!

I liked how much more visible the decs were in general so I like how you guys promoted this. I think maybe looking into music this year and creating a larger dec would help with promo, or keeping some repeating flagship ones.

    Thanks, Sagar.

  26. Hey PR!!
Great job on holiday decs. This brought something festive to Lynbrook campus and was enjoyable to walk around campus to see. If you guys pair this with rally weeks, I think you could take these decorations to the next level!

  27. Hey pr-

I like Aarya's suggestion on doing collabs with other commissions and making it interactive- I feel like it will add another layer of purpose to the decorations. Something that you guys could do with tech for example is have holiday music played near where the decs are set up and have little notes that people can write things that they're thankful of/wishing for.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey PR!
I really liked how above and beyond you guys went this year with holiday decs, and made that note to celebrate all 3 of the holidays equally instead of making it a christmas event. I think to truly bring in the holiday spirit, an intercommission collab would be a great idea! PR could potentially collab with rec for WWW and/or spirit(??) for perhaps a lunchtime activity related to the season. (Cookie decorating contest?) If the commissions come together, it makes the whole school seem more as one, and makes each event seem bigger than it would be if it were to stand alone.

Looking forward to what you guys can cook up next year!
    -Jeff
