January PR Video
hey asb!!
the first pr video of the year just came out a few weeks ago!!
things that went well:
better transitions, didn’t rely on digital transitions as much
more creative promo form commissions (ex. spirit)
more “busy” editing style to keep people entertained/watching
planning/setting dates for commissions
things that we can improve on:
asking people how much time they need to film their segments so we don’t overbook
not letting filming time encroach editing time
enforcing people to memorize their scripts
feel free to leave any feedback. we love to hear from you guys <3 thank you so much

hii pr great job on the pr video!! shoutout to gio for the really good editing :) i really like it when the video has a lot of fun transitions and effects because it really makes it a lot more engaging. during leadershare, tech talked with the media/tech commissions from other schools, and it seems like they actually have 1-2 short videos a week w/ announcements, and that around 90% of teachers play the video in class, so not that we have to necessarily implement that but it might be nice to get in touch with pr/tech from other schools and see how they manage getting information out to students, because even though I think that the quality of our pr vids are good, i'm not sure how much of that information is actually getting out and it might be good to do a survey or something to measure engagement. other than that, great job on the video!!

hi PR and tech!!
ReplyDeleteI loved the transitions that helped with keeping myself and others engaged throughout the video! The creative promo and editing style also helped with engagement and made the PR video nice to watch. This was mentioned in class but I think it'd be nice for commissions to know how much time they have in the PR video so that the script could be tailored to fit the time rather than hoping that our segment was within the time frame. In terms of ensuring that everyone has their script memorized and that the filming time does not drag on, it's important that tech makes it clear about how long each commission has to film, and if it's not done then there's not much that you guys can do, just so that your time is also respected. Overall, really great PR video!!

hey pr and tech!!
ReplyDeleteamazing job on the january pr video! the transitions were so engaging and they really elevate the quality of the video. including themes in videos tends to make them quite entertaining, and also using campus shots so it's not too much speaking also helps to make the video more engaging. i think the implementation of a time limit, since our main platform for these videos is now instagram, is a really smart way to get people to take a few minutes out of their day to enjoy the video. additionally keeping a quick bulleted list of what is discussed in the video as the title picture is smart so people know where to get the information they need. overall, you've made it so far in terms of improvements since last semester and i can't wait for feb's video!

hey pr and tech!!
ReplyDeleteyou guys did such a great job on the pr video!! there were a lot of asb events that had to be covered in january and you guys did a great job keeping the video to the time limit and also having such cool editing. i know sticking to filming times is hard especially when it is usually out of your control, but you guys could try being stricter on making commissions have their lines memorized prior to filming. also giving each commission a certain amount of time to film when you guys are busy would be helpful for time management. i feel like this is a general tip for pr videos but starting as soon as you can always helps. time always catches up to you so having that extra week or two would help keep the filming schedule less busy and also making sure tech has an appropriate amount of time to edit. aside from that, this pr was super fun to watch and im glad everything worked out in the end!!

hey pr + tech!
ReplyDeletei literally love love this pr vid! the transitions and jokes made the video so entertaining and fun to watch. for the discussion questions, i feel like it's mentioned a lot about how people don't memorize scripts/there's little time for editing. in the future, setting stricter rules for memorizing scripts is important. if you guys have to, sending reminders privately a week in advance and then a day in advance may help with this. for the time segments, i think adding a section on the sign up spreadsheet would be nice. this way you guys can cut certain segments shorter and allocate time better. overall, amazinggg job on jan pr vid! so excited to see more :))

HI PR AND TECH!
ReplyDeleteI really loved the january PR Video and the effort you guys put into it. I liked the busy editing style so you never give anyone the chance to look away and lose attention. I think we should be encouraging all commissions to have extremely captivating and entertaining skits. Looking forward to the februrary PR Video!

HAI PR AND TECH!
ReplyDeleteLOVED the January pr video, with all the transitions and additional details you guys put into the editing. I realize this time there was a lot more emphasis on filming on time which is really good. I think with that you guys could also send out reminders for the commissions the day before they are filming so they can memorize their script and or prep for the outfits for the video. Overall, amazing job and so excited for February!!!

ReplyDeleteHi PR,
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the january PR video! I think the detail into the aesthetic was really nice and we should focus on being more creative like this in the future. I think there was some issues with how people could watch the video with it being slightly shaky on the footage, but I think this is all a process of trying with creative projects like this. I think generally we can improve our consistency with being more strict. Overall great job.

hello PR!
ReplyDeletei really enjoyed watching the january PR video!
to up engagement in the future having creative promo for each commission is a great way to keep the audience engaged;
additionally i liked the club spotlight segments a lot more this time with the club meeting footage + voiceover

halo halo pr and tech!!
ReplyDeleteThe pr video was amazing as always the editing was super good. The spirit section was also very entertaining and engaging with the transitions and "line of reasoning." I agree with people's comments that setting stricter rules for memorizing is definitely very important as it cuts down a lot on filming time. I also really liked Emma's comment during class about having themed videos, such as wearing pink and red in february PR videos. This adds a really nice touch and makes it even more engaging + fun. Can't wait to see future videos!

Hey PR, hey tech!
ReplyDeleteThe January PR video was another win, as usual. It was really fun and engaging to watch. The awesome editing made the video so fun to watch as usual. My only comment is something that can always be improved on, which is making sure that filming goes smoothly and that tech has a longer time to edit. An idea I had to spice up the PR video is to have PR create a graphic, or just having a screen with text for each event that really splits up each section of the PR video. So for example, having a screen that says “winter rally” and then jumping in to the winter rally footage. Overall, great job PR and Tech!

HI TECH AND PR!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved the transitions in the pr video this month. I definitely think it helped engage our audience and made the video more interesting. Also during 25’s drivers ed promo, Hao is pointing upward when he's talking about the link, but the link is only in the captions at the bottom of the video. Other than that, the video looked super good and good job!!
-Chloe
Hello pr and tech!!
ReplyDeleteThis months pr video definitely felt very snappy and easy to watch (almost addicting?) with the cool transitions. I honestly don't have much to say, but I think that it would be pretty cool if we started incorporating a pr made graphic for the table to contents and potentially (idk if pr is down) but utilizing their skills to visually add to the pr videos. Other than that, I think this months pr video was super good!
-Colin
Hey PR and Tech!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this PR video. It felt a lot more fast paced which made it a lot more interesting for both me and other people I talked to. I specifically liked the aesthetic that was carried through the video (shoutout to Gio for the editing). I really liked how energetic everybody in the video looked and acted. I think that having something at the top right that indicates a transition might be helpful for people to follow what is going on during the video
-Manit
Hey PR and Tech!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job on the PR Video. It was so much fun watching it! Something that I think would be nice is to do one of those timestamps for each section. This is mainly because the video was really fast paced and students might want to go back to a specific section to learn about the event. Either way, great job!
-Seren
Hello PR and Tech,
ReplyDeleteAmazing job with the PR video. I just have a few things to reiterate from my previous PR video comments.
1. Have an annual planning session to plot out events and whatnot. Since events are mentioned at the beginning of the year, it is possible to have a predetermined plan for filming and release. This will eliminate the need for PR Video Signups, albeit they would still be important for last-minute changes. However, this would solve an issue that we had with the Winter Rally as well as the Winter Formal Promotion, with these two promotions being in a separate video. Finally, it will help with script revision as you can preset deadlines. This process can be completed over the summer, with it being an assignment of sorts for the commissions.
2. Plotting out scripts, you should be giving people a limited amount or time limit during the PR Video. For example, saying “You have 42 seconds, make your script around that.” Rather than the other way around. This should help with the consistency of quality and quantity/planning issues. This should also help with script memorization, with shorter scripts = easier to memorize.
3. Finally, it would be best if you could ask people to think of their own fun transitions and tidbits or plan it yourselves. Knowing the order of the acts/events and using transitions within the scripts to move from topic to topic will lead to an overall more formatted and easier-to-digest PR Video.
- Ivan
Hello Tech/PR
ReplyDeleteI really loved the use of people's movements as transitions, it looked really smooth good job! From my own experiences filming for PR videos, it's really draining on tech/pr to hunt down the groups that need to record for their script etc. Something I suggest are hard rejections. If they haven't memorized their scene by filming, their segment for the pr video is cancelled. Being hard on the deadlines and expectations will make everyone actually follow them (because they dont want to miss the PR opportunity!) and respect your time more. Again great job on the video I loved it! keep up the good work 🛠
-Hao
Hey Yall,
ReplyDeleteI just rewatch this PR video and I really loved how smooth the video and transitions were. I concur with everyone's comments about being stricter on people having scripts memorized. Especially with such a labor-intensive editing process, others also have to help ease your workload by doing their part. I know y'all have worked towards this throughout this past semester, and I hope that this continues into next year.
- Shyon
hi pr!!
ReplyDeletei'll just echo everyone else's praise: loved the fast transitions, it was engaging for my (and most of the student body's) golfish-brain attention span. i think ivan's idea to pre-plan events for each pr video at the beginning of the year is a great idea. this also decreases potential for commission error, like forgetting to sign up for the pr video. also, maybe placing deadlines for scripts earlier could help stragglers finish by the ACTUAL time u need them.
thanks for all your hard work <3

Hey PR and Tech! The January PR video was amazing as usual, another PR + Tech W. This kind of PR video was new and very refreshing, it really felt enjoyable to watch. The energy was great, the only main thing I felt was that with everything happening so fast it sometimes got a little hard to keep track of what the video was currently talking about, so if there were little labels on screen or if the video was segmented up it might be easier for students watching to go back or learn about an event they're interested in. Besides that, I think it was really good, great job!

hi pr + tech!
ReplyDeletegreat job on the january pr video! i loved the fast and engaging transitions, as many others have mentioned. Something to help with filming efficiency is filming as many groups during breakout as possible because that will set an automatic time restriction and guarantee everyone in the commission is present (usually).
- emma
Hey PR & Tech!
ReplyDeleteFirstly, amazing job on the PR video! It was so fun to watch and I think a lot of people enjoyed it! I especially loved the editing style and thought it was very engaging, so I think it would be great to employ in more PR videos as well! I think one thing you guys can do is add more graphics/text boxes on screen as a bit of visual aid for the audience, but overall, amazing job!
- Kimaya
Hey PR and tech!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely AMAZING job on the pr video this month! I really enjoyed the variety of styles and groups present and I really loved the overall feel and editing of the video. I think the video was efficeint and entertaining, and overall amazing job! Maybe one note for next month's pr video is to potentially add music behind the club spotlight clubs, to make it a little more engaging.
Great job!
-Alex
Hey PR and Tech!
ReplyDeleteI just had to drop in and give you major props for the PR video. Seriously, it was an absolute blast to watch! You guys really outdid yourselves.
Here's a little idea that I think could make it even better: How about adding some timestamps for each section? Since the video had such a fast-paced vibe, it would be super helpful for students who want to revisit a particular event or section. They can easily jump back to that specific moment without any hassle.
Thanks, Sagar.
Hey PR and Tech!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on this PR video. Another one in the bag RAHHH. I agree that these PR videos need more creativity within them. Fun scripts and themes are the easiest way to do this. Maybe this is something next year's PR wants to plan out at the beginning of the year?
Thanks for a great video and can't wait to see what else you all do <333
