Valentines Club Market

HELLO ASB!  The Valentine's Club Market happened on Thursday, February 16th, and we featured 14 student groups. The event was a valentine-themed market event, where clubs, class officers, and virtual enterprise businesses were able to sell items or activities to the student body. We also promoted the event through Instagram stories, posts, as well as handing out physical invitations during lunch.  Prior to the event, we opened sign-ups from clubs, however, most clubs signed-up on the last day of signups :( . We communicated the logistics to them via email, and had an in-person meeting with clubs during a lunch. We reviewed their items and approved them to participate in the event.  On the day of the event, we began set-up at 2:30 PM until 4:00 PM. All clubs/virtual enterprise groups were there on time and were fully set up by the start time. We also set up decorations at this time; for decorations we had red/white tablecloth's, a balloon arch (shoutout AJ), hanging plasti...

Match-O-Matics

HEY ASB!   Match-O-Matics is an event that took place from February 6th to February 10th, and we distributed donuts on February 16th at the Valentines Club Market. Lynbrook students had the opportunity to fill out a cute questionnaire to be paired with someone else at Lynbrook and hopefully become bestest friends. The incentive for signing up was a free donut. Signups were held in the quad during lunch, and Community Link had a table where volunteers helped students sign up on their computers. We also promoted the event through Instagram stories and posts featuring graphics created by GOAT Shreya Somani. On the day of the donut distribution, we ordered 240 donuts, but because not enough people showed up with their matches, we started selling them for two tickets and eventually gave them away for free. About a quarter of all matched participants came to pick up a donut with their match. Here are some prompts to discuss:   What other ways can we creatively promote Match-O...

Coffeehouse Talent Show Outro

hey asb!! chts was last friday 2/3 in the cafeteria from 7-10pm. we would love any feedback from you guys overall, here are the things that went well: - lots of performer sign ups - good attendance/food supply - setup/cleanup was efficient discussion points: 1. should we limit the # of performer sign ups to have more time for open mic? or even limit the amount of time each person has to perform 2. should we keep food free or have people pay? 3. should we have a more interactive script or just allow the performers to have more time on stage? 4. how else could we promo this event? any general feedback is also appreciated! please let us know how the event was if you attended as a guest or were handling the food <3 recognition

Lynbrook Idol

HEY ASB pt2, From 1/17-1/19, Spirit hosted the 2023 Lynbrook Idol, the annual singing competition to display the wonderful talented singers and select the singer of the Alma Mater at the Winter Rally.  Just to give some insight into the process, all singers were graded on 5 categories, including stage presence, dynamics, tone, etc. We implemented a new weighted rubric this year, with Spirit’s combined vote being worth the same amount as Derek and Ms. Kirsh’s combined vote, to ensure fairness.  Feel free to talk about the audition process, the selection process, or any feedback on Spirit’s performance. Here are some discussion prompts: Should Spirit continue to stick with a minimalistic script for Idol? We didn’t want to take the attention away from the singers How accessible was the voting form? How can we further encourage people to vote? Would it be helpful posting the performances right away to the ASB Insta?  Was the turnaround time for each round too short? Sh...

Pixar Spirit Week + Winter Rally

HEY ASB! Spirit had our Pixar Spirit Week from 1/23 to 1/26, ending the week off with our Winter Rally on 1/27. We once again want to thank you guys all so much for helping us with this amazing week. Spirit Week: Here are the days in order:  Cozy Winter Wear Monday Teacher Student Switch Tuesday Wednesday’s We Wear Pink Tie vs Tie Dye Thursday Once again, we tried going for more tiktok-y spirit days rather than more conventional spirit days. We saw the highest participation on Cozy Winter Monday and Wednesday’s We Wear Pink, and the lowest participation for Teacher Student Switch Tuesday. Points for Discussion: Should we bring back daily backdrops? For fall rally, we thought it was too much work for something that didn’t get the engagement we were looking for Although Teacher Student Switch day was aimed to get teachers more involved, it was still a bit hard to participate in. Should we continue having spirit days like this? Should we bring back the daily recap reels for the next s...

Coin Wars

Hey guys! Firstly we want to thank you for participating or volunteering (or both) in Coin Wars! We could not have done it without you! We would love if you could provide us some feedback on the event (or any other questions, comments, etc)! Here are some points for discussion: - Should we change the points system (ex. make dollars positive, coins negative, etc) - Is pieing a good incentive? Would it be better for next year if we switched the incentive? Possibly if we pied teachers instead of CO's? - Are there any different PR strategies we should have used to promote this event? - Is hosting coin wars during rally week something we should continue? Thank you for your feedback! - cLink

Winter Formal: The Secret Garden

Heyo ASB <#3333 First off, thank you everyone for helping out with Winter Formal, it wouldn’t have been possible without you guys!!! We hope everyone enjoyed the dance and venue. We would  really appreciate any feedback  you guys have concerning any aspect of the week. Here are some points for discussion: What are more ways we can be sustainable? (Ex. should social buy a water dispenser for the future) When it comes to food should we get more or less? (had more than 2:1 in fluids and cheese/crackers) Were there enough decorations in the venue to make it feel full? (There were arches, flowers/ivy vines on railings, and flower cloches for table decs)  Should we make it permanent to give away some type of goodie or favor at winter formal? Were dressing up, poster distribution, and video promo methods effective? If not, what could we change? What other ways (besides earlier ASB and co/cp asking) could we promote askings? Thank you for taking your time to fill out this blog...
