Staff Appreciation Week
Hi ASB!
Staff Appreciation Week was a week long event where Rec handed out food/goodies for the staff to enjoy. Here is a quick overview of what happened each day:
Monday: Coffee (used Starbucks travelers/self serve)
Tuesday: ArtReach flowers (put them in teacher mailboxes)
Wednesday: Tea (put out during fourth/self serve)
Thursday: Yogurt bar (bought yogurt cups + granola/self serve)
Friday: Message grams (emailed to teachers)
Discussion Points:
- what other treats/food could we give out in the future years?
- how can we encourage more sign ups on the message form? (and should we keep it digital or invest and print them out to put in staff mailboxes)
- any other pieces of advice or feedback is appreciated!
thank you <3 rec
Hi Rec,
ReplyDeleteI think all the things that you did for staff were really wonderful! I'm sure the staff felt very appreciated. I'm not really sure what treats/food staff would particularly like, but it might be nice to ask some staff members/sending out a form before the staff appreciation week for their input and what food items they like/prefer. I think printing out the message form might be nice, because sometimes digital messages get overlooked easily and a nice physical card might be really nice to look at. Other than that, great job!!

Hi Rec! It's great to hear that Staff Appreciation Week was a success. Here are some points for discussion:
ReplyDeleteIn terms of other treats or food that could be given out in future years, it would be helpful to know what the staff members enjoyed most from this year's offerings. You could also consider things like baked goods, fruit, or small snacks like granola bars or trail mix.
To encourage more sign-ups on the message form, you could consider incentivizing participation by offering a raffle or prize drawing for those who submit a message. You could also try promoting the message form through announcements or posters around the school. In terms of whether to keep it digital or print them out, it may be more eco-friendly and convenient to keep it digital, but if you have the resources to print and distribute physical message grams, that could be a nice touch as well.
One other idea for future years could be to involve students in the appreciation efforts. For example, you could have students write thank-you notes to staff members, create posters or artwork to decorate the school, or even participate in the distribution of treats or gifts. This could help to build a stronger sense of community and gratitude throughout the school.
Overall, it sounds like you did a great job with Staff Appreciation Week! Keep up the good work.

HI REC AND STEPHALI!! 😘😘
ReplyDeletestaff appreciation week was super cute and all the themes were really well thought out!!
here are my responses to the discussion points:
1. personally, i LOVED the food choices you all had this year as they were really "teacher-themed". some ideas for next year could be having a pastry bar (croissants, danish pastry, banana bread, madeleines, eclairs, donuts, pretzels, cannoli, etc.), fruit bar (cut up pineapples, grapes, apples, oranges, etc.), or a bar bar! (cliff bars, granola bars, nature valley). these all take a lot more work, but i think it's definitely worth it! you could have one day be the focus of the week and plan a huge feast like this. i think teachers would really appreciate it and enjoy picking out their own food!
2. definitely promoting more when the final date neared! if i wasn't in asb, then i probably would have forgotten to do it! i like ivan's idea during the outro of having the form open for the full year, so special memories can accumulate. being more active on story spamming or weekly emails as the final date neared would be great. i know you guys had a pr segment where you talked about the due date, but i think many people would have forgotten.
3. i LOVED the event and all the days were planned out fabulously! it would be a fun idea to get students involved in the event more, as many of them didn't know it was happening. maybe setting up a table in the quad with hearts for teachers? (like hearts week but with teacher names instead) this could happen throughout the week and students could write kind messages - volunteers would be overseeing all writing to ensure it is appropriate.
love yall!!

hey rec!!
ReplyDeleteim sure that staff appreciation week really showed admin and teachers how much students are grateful for them. for the discussion points, i think that you guys can try handing out some more morning treats e.g. muffins or bagels. to encourage more sign ups, i think you guys can make it in-person where you set up a table for people to write messages or you guys could tell people to write their notes on pretty note paper. (this would also eliminate the printing process and extra costs). overall, great job rec!

HI REC!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for putting on staff appreciation week! I’m sure it brought a smile to their faces. I think the message grams would be more special if it was on paper instead of just emailed to teachers. We can have small squares of colorful paper or something where students can write messages and put it all together on one poster for each staff member. Other than that, great job rec i love u

hey rec!
ReplyDeleteThe staff appreciation week was so cute, especially the flowers. I think in the future, having message grams would be better as teachers can choose to hang it on their walls, etc. It could even go as far as getting cute cards for each teacher, and having people sign them in the quad or something. Other than that, great job :)

Hi rec!
ReplyDeleteStaff Appreciation week was great! I think its really good that we do this for our teachers; here are some discussion points. I think the snacks were really good, but maybe 1 or two days you could give them something other than food, like maybe a pop-it or something else, since I think the teachers would enjoy the diversity of gifts. I think making it paper would bring more interaction beyond ASB, which I think is better than just a bunch of ASB kids. Its one of those things that's worth it long term for the effectiveness of the event.

hi asb rec!
ReplyDeletethanks for putting together such a thoughtful event for our amazing staff!
here's a couple of notes:
- food ideas: i think any teacher would like a good cup of fruit as a snack. going to costco and getting those bulk packs of cut fruit and setting out some paper bowls would be good! the yogurt bar was really cute though.
- message form: you can have 2 separate activities: #1 is getting students to write reasons why they love staff on a giant piece of paper & hang that on campus during the week (basically like decor). #2 is just getting small, cute notepad paper and students can handwrite them/draw something for a certain teacher. i think handwritten things are 10x more meaningful and teachers would want to hang those things up in their room.
great job rec!!

Hi Rec,
ReplyDeleteSuch a great event for our staff! I personally liked the days and treats this year, but some further ideas could include some bagels, muffins, or other small breakfast treats. You could also look into more items such as hand lotion, candles, small plants, etc. For more messages, maybe doing it as a physical message would be better. First of all, having it as something physical and handwritten feels a lot more personal vs an online message. Also, you could then have stations in the quad, and around certain parts of campus for students to write messages. It's a lot more attractive to students if they can quickly write up a message or draw something when it's presented in front of them as it doesn't take quite long.
Nice job Rec!

hello rec!!
ReplyDeletegreat job on showing appreciation to our staff. for snacks/treats i think like donuts or cookies could be good, something easy for asb and something that can hopefully brighten up a teachers day... i think that any possible creative promo would be cool for getting the message out. also this lwk on me but i feel like staff appreciation is kind of out of the way and didn't feel fully inclusive. i think that if we could just have like a station with a big poster to write a quick message to teachers, that could be cool. otherwise great work rec!!

hi rec!
ReplyDeletegreat job on staff appreciate week! an idea to increase message participation is to have it be an advisory activity that students are recommended to do. since some students dont feel like doing work during advisory, they may end of filling out the form because of the little reminder.

Hey Rec!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on this years staff appreciation week. I really loved how you had the staff engaged and thought the online message board was very cute. One idea to increase message participation is to set up a stand during lunch for people to write out their messages. You can also find some small snack boxes from costco to have as food for the teachers. Overall great job this year!

Hi rec,
ReplyDeleteGood Job on SAW. I think it is a really good idea to make teachers feel appreciated since they have taught us so much. Something else you guys can try giving out in the future is something easy like bagels and cream cheese. As a nice touch, you guys can order the bagels that are already warm and toasted and I think that will make a lot of their days :). Something else we can do in the future is a collab with Mrs. Miller and Have ASB cook something for the teachers. These are just suggestions and good job on SAW.

ReplyDeleteHi Rec,
ReplyDeleteGreat job this year with SAW. I think the staff appreciated it and it's a nice way to end off a long year. One thing I would consider is physical mailboxes and notes for staff. This feels more personal and will probably have more notes if placed in a visible place on campus. I also think that sticking to the basics with coffee cuz teachers loveeeeee that stuff.
Great work!

Hey Rec,
ReplyDeleteGreat job on Staff Appreciation Week! The goodies are a good way to end off a tedious school year for the hardworking staff. One suggestion could be personalizing the message grams (on Friday) for teachers if it isn't too much work. Overall, you guys did a great job!
Claire
hey rec!
ReplyDeletesome thoughts:
- instant coffee is something you could consider for future years!
- i think you could post flyers around campus and outside of teacher doors advertising the messaging form to get more messages. also yes, printing them out would be great! much more personal than an email, and teachers are more inclined to actually read the messages.
love, kyrsten
Hi Rec!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job on this event, I'm sure the teachers really appreciated it and are very thankful for this sweet gesture from you guys! I think ideas like the yogurt bar are so cute and I would definitely say to do something of those sorts again next year! Maybe a cute idea could be like a cupcake bar where you get to decorate your own cupcake and it's just a small cute thing they get to do. Overall, amazing job!

Hi Rack!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with SAW! I really liked your choices of foods and treats, they were super well thought out. For some reason, my most vivid memories of what teachers eat happen to be bananas and peanut butter💀 but I think it would be cool if you guys offered them fruits of some sort for next years event. Also commenting on the message grams, I prefer having them as physical things they can receive in their mailboxes. I suggest setting up a table in the quad the week before SAW, and having students personally write messages to their teachers. I think even just for the teachers to see the handwriting of their students, adds another level of engagement and appreciation (ofc the students can choose to keep their messages anonymous).

hi rec-
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy that rec puts on a whole week event for the staff and teachers as they truly do deserve the recognition. I think all the little treats are pretty good, but one aspect that could be improved is the messages. As I'm writing this now, I see that Jeff mentioned having students write out the messages instead of emailing it, which is just what I was thinking. I agree with Jeff that it will add a special quality to it, but more than that, it will encourage engagement among the students. A bunch of students out in the quad will create commotion, and peers will bring each other to write messages. I don't think the issue is that students aren't appreciative of their teachers, it's just most students will only do it if it's convenient enough.
Hi Rec!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on staff appreciation week! One main thing that I think could add to the element of staff appreciation week is making it seem to be more from the school as a whole, in particular the students, rather than from ASB rec. This way the teachers feel more seen! Some ways that you could do this would to be making the appreciation cards physical. Having students sign these at lunch allows it to garner more attention and allows people to help fill in teachers who may not have as many. I also think that you could possibly incorporate students making small arts and crafts like the flowers. A banner would also create the campus vibe of appreciating teachers! Overall, amazing event :)
Best,
Sophia <3
HI REV!
ReplyDeletesuper duper amazing job on staff appreciation week! here's my feedback:
1) other treats/foods for future years: baked goods, possible classroom materials? (expo markers, post-its)
2) for sign ups on the messages form- this might be too informal of an idea, but possibly receiving messages on the lynbrookasb story? posting a story with the question feature in which students can directly respond on there. i feel like having to search up and open a form by yourself just might be too much work for the students
overall super great job! i'm sure the staff loved the gifts they received :)

Hi Rec!
ReplyDeleteI think this event was super successful and such a good idea. I even had a couple of teachers tell me in person that they were so grateful that I’d filled out a message gram. I really liked that idea and hope that it continues in the future, although I think it requires more PR. Not that many of my friends knew about it, but I’m sure they would’ve loved to fill it out if they had. Overall, great event, thank you rec!
