discussion points:
how do we make sure our decs don't get stolen? (mannequin hands and one halloween sign stolen)
if hoco is right before halloween should we still do halloween decs?

Hi PR,
ReplyDeleteThe halloween decs were a nice subtle touch for the week, I personally enjoyed the hands in the planters. With halloween being right after hoco, the week is a little rough but the decs did spice up campus and I feel like they should be a regular thing, disregarding when hoco is. Also, putting up decs that can be easily taken is always a risk. A safer but possibly less manageable option would be to set up bigger decs that are harder for people to grab.

hi pr!!
ReplyDeleteNice job with Halloween decs! To ensure that decs don't get stolen I think the best way is really just making sure all the decs are put into place and secured very well. People will still be able to steal them but it might discourage them if it's harder to take away. Generally, it's impossible to prevent stealing entirely as if people really wanted to do so, they'd probably go out of there way to do so anyways. For the second discussion point, I think it's still nice to have halloween decs even right after hoco. Although it might not be up for super long, it's super cute to have decs around school and getting people into spirit. One suggestion is having maybe one or two larger decs around school. Most of the decs around school seemed to be on the more small or medium side fo things. Possibly having a larger sign running through the entire office entrance area or around school could make decs more noticeable. Other than that, I really liked the decs especially the ones in the planters :)

Hello PR!
ReplyDeleteI loved the halloween decs! They were so pretty and definitely made the campus livelier. I think the best way to prevent decs from being stolen is to have larger, more noticeable objects, because stealing them would be more conspicuous. I do think that preventing stealing entirely is impssible, but bigger things would be harder. Secondly, although halloween decs happen right after homecoming week, it is still worthwhile to put them up just because of how nice it makes the campus look and how much spirit it adds. Some more ideas that I have is to focus the decs in the quad/cafeteria because they are the areas with the most student traffic and sprinkling in some very small decs in the other areas around campus. Overall, PR did an amazing job with the halloween decs and it was really nice to look at!

hi pr,
ReplyDeletethe halloween decs were really cute!! i noticed them all around campus. i think it's definitely nice to have halloween decs even when its right after homecoming, because especially for spirit's event with trick or treating it really elevates the mood in the school and makes it more spirited. maybe an idea for the future would be to make halloween themed door signs for the classrooms so that the decorations are even more spread out around campus. other than that, great job!!

hey pr!!
ReplyDeletethe scattered halloween decs were a nice touch scattered around campus following hoco week. i def think you guys should still do them since there isnt really any other way lynbrook celebrates halloween aside from dressing up.
to avoid them being stolen, i would say invest in getting bigger decs. the mannequin hands and signs in planters are a cute idea but are not as viewable. the streamers in the cafeteria was a nice touch because of the central location so people were forced to look at it. i think people would also enjoy bigger decs such as inflatables or such better because they could also take pictures with them. maybe we could have one of the inflatables outside the den if the weather isnt projected to rain. we wouldnt have to worry about having those stolen because of their size and location placed. overall, i would say to prioritize buying larger decs compared to smaller decs. great job with halloween decs!!

hi pr babes :)
ReplyDeletein general, i feel like halloween decs are a "go all out or go home" type thing. instead of having just small things here and there, larger decs could have been around campus to truly transform the environment. (plus, it's much more harder to steal large decs)
additionally, if halloween is ever on a school day again (like it was this year), putting up a halloween backdrop for people to take pics would have been super cute!!

hi pr!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job on Halloween decs! Everything looked amazing and really made the campus feel festive. In terms of how to prevent decs from getting stolen, perhaps you can post spooky themed signs next to the expensive decs saying "do not take or you will be cursed", or something along those lines so that students get the message, but it also doubles as a decoration.

hi pr!
ReplyDeleteright off the bat, i loved the spiderwebs and the spiders. they were such a good touch.
about the decs being stolen, i don't know if there's anything we can really do about that besides asking students not to take them? like on themed signs, like emma said. but i would say, just don't worry too much about it.
i think hoco shouldn't really affect the quality of the decs. pr, you guys pulled it off great this year, even in the chaos of hoco. if it seems stressful or last-minute, you could maybe plan a timeframe ahead of time on a weekend where you just run around and decorate everywhere, so you don't have to worry about breakout ending before you're finished or something.

Hi pr!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on halloween decorations this year! I think it is really nice to be able to see some decorations, especially because so many people dressed up so it matched the environment. As for the stolen decs, I agree with some others that maybe larger decs would be better, as they are harder to steal and also more noticeable. Overall, phenomenal job on Halloween decs!
- Alex
Heyyyy pr!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the spooky scary decorations around campus ESP the spiderwebs. It really brought more of a halloween spirit on campus. With the concern about decs being stolen, I think have decs be larger and more visible that way it's physically impossible to steal and noticeable when someone does try to steal it. It might be a lot to invest in as well so maybe for some of the smaller decs try placing it in a very centralized area such as the trees in the quad or the bushes around the 00 wing, that way it's quiet obvious if someone tries to steal something esp in the quad. Overall I loved the decorations!!

hello pr!!
ReplyDeletegreat works on the halloween decs this year. i think that it was cool to see and similar to what others are saying, i think bigger decs SHOULD avoid people from stealing decs. i also think that putting them in the quad would allow more people to appreciate them. personally, i only saw the decs when i was in a rush trying to get to class so maybe thats something to consider.... otherwise great work and i'm looking forward to what yall will do next year!

hey PR
ReplyDeleteI really liked the Halloween decs this year. I think that if we had bigger decs it would both spice up the event a little more and prevent things from getting stolen. Also I was not able to volunteer for setup but I saw a couple volunteers struggling to put up decs by themselves so if there were either more volunteers or if people paired up I think that would make the whole thing just a bit easier. I have really been enjoying all of these PR decorative events so keep up the good work!

Hey PR!
ReplyDeleteI think that Halloween decs were awesome and I loved seeing them around campus! I think that for next year it would be great if we could do some larger decs and that would prevent them from being stolen, and I would suggest like giant cob webs, or maybe invest in some large reusable decs (ex. fake cauldron, etc). I think overall Halloween decs was awesome and great job!
- Kimaya
hey pr!
ReplyDeletehalloween decs this year were SO cute. i loved the spider webs and planter decs. i think if stealing is a problem you should place the decs where cameras are so you can catch who's stealing them. as for hoco, i dont think it matters too much if hoco is the week before, as long as hoco is not on halloween then the halloween decs should definitely be displayed. can't wait for next year's:)

hi pr!!
ReplyDeletegreat job with halloween decs! it was so nice seeing our campus transform into a spooky vibe. on the discussion point about stealing, i think you guys could just stray away from stealable items or take some precautions. this may mean putting decs in higher places, buying larger decs (large inflatables, etc), and putting decs in popular places so people will notice if it gets stolen. i think doing halloween decs is still a good idea even though it is right after hoco. it spices up the campus and people do notice the effort that is put into it. can't wait to see future creative decs from you guys!

hellaur pr!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's always so much fun to come on campus and see a change in the atmosphere, and you guys did great with the decorations this halloween. While it comes right after Hoco and I know it was a little hectic, I still think halloween decs added a lot to the school atmosphere AND it worked really well with spirit's trick or treating event. As for items getting stolen, I think it might be a possible idea to start differing the location of the decs away from out in the grass beds and maybe into places that are not as accessible. An example would be decorating the glass window part of the auditorium (which you guys are starting to do) or even putting decs/streamers/signs on teacher's doors. I do think getting more spider webs might be nice because no one really wants to swipe those and they add to the vibe really well (+sustainability bc they're reusable!) Again, great job with these decs!
- stephani <3
Hey PR!
ReplyDeleteAs usual, great job with the decs :) I think that even though it is right after homecoming, the vibe it creates really uplifts campus! As we talked about, having bigger decs, over more thematic smaller decs can help prevent stealing! I think that the spider webs are great since it exudes halloween and the streamers could also be nice! We could also use the window markers that we have to draw halloween art on the cafeteria windows! Great job!

Hi PR!
ReplyDeleteGJ with hallodecs! I agree with Steph in the sense that despite many people were burnt out, the Halloween Decs were a good break from the big hoco ones and that it matched the Spirit event perfectly. I'd also like to add that sometimes hoco week may not be the week right before halloween (for ex last year it was ~3 weeks before), so the back-to-back may not be the case next year. Talking about the decs themselves, I would like to say that I actually noticed the little hands in the planters and thought they were really cool, and the cafeteria decorations of course were litty. Keep it up!
- Jeff
Hi PR!
ReplyDeleteI loveeeee Halloween! I always look forward to the spirit that PR brings to the campus, and this year was no exception. Even though this year I, along with other seniors, were more out of it because of apps, I still noticed the shift in atmosphere with the decs around school.
-Erin :)
HI PR!
ReplyDeleteLoved the Halloween des this year! I honestly don’t think there's any way that you can prevent decs from being stolen because there's no way to monitor it 24/7, but maybe if you got bigger decs, then people would be less likely to steal them because it’s easier to catch them/more suspicious. Good job!!!
-Chloe
hiii pr!!
ReplyDeletei really enjoyed the halloween decs and totally loved the idea! tbh no suggestions, i think this was a great new event! ty u pr!

hi pr!
ReplyDeletegood job on the halloween decs this year! Maybe center your decs around the asb den because a lot of students walk by there and i didn't even know there was a inflatable int he office so yeah if you want to get maximum visibility probably go with the den. But other than that great event!
-hao
Hi PR!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job on Halloween decs! I think there could have definitely been more decorations in front of classrooms or in the quad planters. I think it would have been easier and also more noticeable! Overall it was a great event! just add more large decor instead of small ones!
HI PR!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with Halloween Decs! I really liked the large-scale decs (esp the spooky cobwebs on the bushes) and it really added a lot to campus and made me happy (during the very non-happy week before early schools were due). Keep it up and I am super excited for your guys next event.

hi pr !!
ReplyDeletethe season decs you guys do are so cute and i'm so glad you brought them back for halloween— especially the streamers in the cafeteria! one thing i'd think about for the future is making decs more interactive. for example, refilling a giant pumpkin with candy every morning. one way to make decs more visible is to hang them up— in the 19-20 year, they used fishing line between the 500s building and the den to hang snowflakes, and you guys could do the same with ghosts or pumpkin lanterns.

Hello Pr,
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the project, here are my suggestions to your questions in the post above:
"how do we make sure our decs don't get stolen? (mannequin hands and one Halloween sign stolen)" - The answer to this question would be placing the decs in high traffic locations and decreasing the amount of time that they are there. Try setting them up the morning of and taking them down the day after for example. And by high traffic I mean the planters inbetween classrooms and the planters in the quad. Instead of spreading out decorations. It would be cooler and more beneficial to massively decoration a single location or two locations.
"if hoco is right before halloween should we still do halloween decs?" - This is a pretty major issue. A unrealistic suggestion would be to make the hoco theme related to horror if the timings line up as many things can be reused. However, a more realistic approach would be not to do it or to do the suggestion mentioned before and make the decorations very temporary. Another suggestion would be to create a decs of some kind. Like a very large piece of cardboard with a bunch of glued decorations on it so that they aren't easily stolen. These can be reused easily with storage and would be cool to take pictures with. This or a backdrop?
