Student Section
ello asb!
Football season has come to a wrap so major student section plans are finished and PR would love to hear any feedback!
Overview of the student section is to bring spirit and fun themes to sport games to promote attendance and make games more fun.
Discussion points:
- Should we continue doing student sections throughout the year? (ex. senior nights, specific home games, etc.)
-What type of decorations should we do next year to make it more exciting?
Feel free to leave any feedback on what we can improve on throughout the year and in the future!!
Thanks <33

hii pr,
ReplyDeletegreat job on the student section!! it's really nice to see how more people are coming together to celebrate football and overall be more spirited. i definitely think we should continue to do the student sections as its a great way to be more supportive of our sports teams on campus. as for decorations, i think as ms. salazar said, the poms poms would be cute, or maybe something like having reusable banners with "lynbrook" on it that people can wave around, or just large signs in general. other than that, amazing job!!

hi pr!!
ReplyDeletethe student section was such an amazing idea im glad you guys were able to implement. i definitely think we should continue student sections throughout the year for other sports teams. i know for football it was for every game but for other sports maybe just prioritizing their important games would be more beneficial. for example, every sports team will have a first home game to kick off their season, a game against a rival school where we can show them extra support, and especially their senior night to make their last home game memorable. just like how some games are more important than others, this could help decide when exactly having a student section would be helpful for those teams.
i also like the idea ms. salazar had in investing in reusable items such as pom poms. they could be used for any sports team so the one time cost of buying them would be worth it. i think clink did some sort of sticker giveaway for one of the boys basketball games last year. they just gave away free stickers for the first certain amount of people who came to the game. incentives usually prove to work since people like free things whether they are big or small. overall, the student section is super fun and im glad you guys are trying it out!

Hi PR,
ReplyDeleteThe student section is always a great way to celebrate football culture (and other sports) around campus since it brings a lot of spirit to people and helps put publicity out for the sports teams. Any fun decorations are cool as long as they are reusable, so we don't encourage waste. Overall thank you guys for making such a great student section this year and i'm excited to see what yall come up with in the future!

hi PR!
ReplyDeletethank you for stepping up and taking initiative to bring a student section to Lynbrook! i think you did a great job at uniting students to support the football team. here are some things for future PR to consider!
- publicize the student section/dress up days in more ways (e.g. the week ahead, flyers around campus, announcements, etc) so students who don't have social media can be involved
- get a few ASB people (probably can offer volunteer hours) who also know how football works... to "lead" the cheers/chants & get the crowd hyped up
to answer your question, it would be great to continue to have student sections throughout the year! make sure reach out to athletics to see what they think because it is not entirely PR's job to increase engagement at sports games. i think senior or important CSS games are a good time to have student sections! really make sure you prioritize because your energy and time are limited.
overall this is an amazing start to a new tradition at lynbrook!

hey pr, great job with student section, it turned out well and i think the amount of participation was really good. I do think there could be more spreading of awareness for the student sections because I saw a lot of people confused about what it was or just not knowing about it at all. As a result a lot of participation that could have been there was not. there should also be some people who start chants so that the rest of the section does as well, just for more of that, but overall great job

ReplyDeletei'm really glad we finally tried out student sections this year. here are my improvements & suggestions:
1) on the actual football bleachers, there should have been clearer signs on where the student sections were, instead of just streamers. also, rules like seniority could have been better enforced during the game. (making getting asb students to volunteer on crowd control?)
2) for those leading the student section, it should have been clear on when cheer does their chants, when band plays their lil song snipets, and how actual football rules work
3) getting more people like that random dude (i think he's the coach's brother?) to hype up our crowd and to get students to stand up is a super fun way to get more spirit >> maybe stay in contact with him if we were to do this again next year
and finally in regards to your question, i think pr should really just be in contact with both the athletics department AND the captain/coach of that team as to whether its something they want to do. i think the important games behind each sport vary & the way they want their crowd to be hyped up greatly vary as well

hello pr!
ReplyDeletethank you for putting together such a fun student section! i think it's definitely worth continuing for the senior nights of different sports, since athletes would love to feel supported appreciated on their final game. as for decorations, maybe you can have a reusable bin of pom pom or noisemakers for audiences to borrow each game, so that they can amplify their cheering. Great job pr!

heyo pr!!
ReplyDeleteI would say that student section is definetely a good idea to continue in the future. Student section helps recognize and make the athletes feel more supported while also bringing the school together as well. If you do choose only certain events to go to rather than all of them, Senior Night should be a priority as it would make the seniors feel recognized and supported. After going over the sustainability meeting today in class, for decs I think it'd be both better budgetwise and also wastewise if we invested in some nice decs that could be reused such as banners. Super happy that y'all gave student section a try this year and I really hope to see it continued in the future :)

hey pr!
ReplyDeletei would say definitely continue student sections for important sports games in the future. the themes are so much fun to dress up in and take pictures for, and i think its a great way to generate spirit within the student body.
you might consider adding in thunder sticks to the student section next year. i'm not sure how many exactly, but you could lay them out on the bleachers and make it like first-come-first-serve. it would help people make noise to support the team!!! also, adding in more draped ribbons (do u know what i mean) like ribbons in the themed color that like swoop along the fence.

hi pr
ReplyDeleteI think the student section should definitely continue. While football probably gets the most attendance for games compared to the other sports. I feel like all teams deserve a chance to have promo for their games and a group of students showing their spirit. The streamers on the bleachers were simple and looked nice but it wasn't really clear where exactly the student section was. If you guys have extra time on your hands make make some small banners or signs that point people in the right direction.

Hi pr!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on student section this year! I think it is extremely important to support our athletes, and this is a great way to do so. I definitely think this is something we should continue throughout the year, especially on the bigger games. I think some decorations you could think of are smaller items that students can hold, such as pom-poms and cowbells. Overall, great job!
- Alex
Hi PR!!!
ReplyDeletePR did an amazing job with the student section and I think it really helps boost morale for the football players. Student sections are a great addition to football games, and I think that PR should continue with it! Perhaps even expanding the same idea to sports teams as well, especially championship games or overall more important events. For the decs at the student section, I think that utilizing reusable items is better for overall lower costs and sustainability :). Overall, great job with the student section!
- Chelsea
HI again PR!!!
ReplyDeleteand and once again YAY amazing job on the student section. its such a nice way to bring together the student body and show off school spirit at games, it can possibly encourage more students to come to sports games. As for decorations, maybe have a large poster be made for senior nights that's help up at the usual backdrop location so throughout the day, students walking by that area can see that there's going to be senior night going on during that day. Loved the student section so yas keep it going!

hello prrrrr!!
ReplyDeletegood work on student section!!!! i wasn't able to actually participate in the student section, being on the field and seeing/hearing it was super cool. i feel like it brought the "spirit" out of many and there was a lot more cheering than normally.... i believe this was said in class, but i think that if we could set up student sections at some of the other sports that would be fun.... i think that considering more themes could also be fun, but otherwise keep up the great work on the student section pr!!

hola pr!
ReplyDeletegreat job with the student sections this year! as i mentioned in class, i feel like it'd be best if we remain equitable with the student section and make it seem like asb isnt only catering to football, and the easiest way to do that is if student sections were set up for home openers, league openers, and senior nights. another alternative could be to contact ms. griffin at the beginning of the school year so that she can notify the coaches about this benefit that asb provides, and they can choose to request to have a student section at a particular game. similar to tech and pr requests, if pr has time, you can provide the student section, otherwise, you can choose not to.
these are just my two cents, great job!

Hey PR!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the student section this year. I really like that you guys are continuing to support our sports team and are pushing to increase school spirit in the student body. I think you guys did an amazing job and I loved that I could hear the cheering from the student section all the way at the band area. I know this was said a lot but I do think it would be a great idea to bring the student section to important games in other sports such as senior nights, openers, e.t.c. Overall great job!
-manit
Hi PR!
ReplyDeleteI think that the student section is amazing and it is a great way to get students more involved and excited for games, and of course to support our Lynbrook Football team! I think that maybe next year you guys can do a lot more promo for it with some more story spams and maybe put it on the announcements so that the word gets more out there! Overall, amazing job!
- Kimaya
hey pr!
ReplyDeletestudent section is such a cute idea! i think in the future we should definitely continue these. we tend to get really low attendance at games that aren't football so we should definitely use student sections to encourage people to come. having fun themes could spice up the student sections rather than just school colors. also changing up the chants based on the occasion could make them more fun.
<3 anika
Hi pr!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really liked the student section this year. I think it's a great way to encourage students to come out and support our football team, and bring out our school spirit. I think the promotion for this could have been more clear. A lot of people didn’t know how the student section worked, and there could have been more signs to clarify on the bleachers. I think a student section would be a great touch to senior nights. Great job PR!!!
-Chloe
hey pr!
ReplyDeletegreat job on student section and building up (or rebuilding up?) student section culture at lynbrook! To make student sections more exciting, we can definitely mark out the section clearer using a large poster. I think to hype up the game more there can also be more creative themes, giving out pom poms or thundersticks, teaching people cheers, and having promo other than just insta. overall, such an amazing job and im looking forward to more student sections!!
-nina
Hey PR!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are really coming up with some great ideas this year! Student Section was a great change, and it definitely raised the attendance for the football games. Although student section may seem like it's not running smoothly, I feel as though this is a tradition that will slowly build up and will eventually just be run by spirited students! I think that we can use the butcher paper we have to make a large sign that simply says student section to attract people there instead of streamers that might go unnoticed, but overall, great job!
- Sophia :)
Hey PR!
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy to see PR flushing out so many projects outside of posters and PR video this year! Student section was something that I had been thinking about prior to the introduction, so I was really excited to see it happen for Lynbrook! I think it is pretty inherent that Lynbrook students don't get as hyped up for football games compared to other schools, but I feel like if we continue to implement this into future years, people will begin really looking forward to it!
-Erin :)
Hi PR!
ReplyDeleteI was really happy about how the student section turned out. It was well decorated and had lots of spirit. I think for future we may want to promote themes like day at the beach which are a bit more effort but also more fun. That specific day would be Hawaiian shirts and leis. I also think that we might want to work out leaders and chants beforehand so that the section can guide its spirit (lol). Great job!
-Shyon
hiya prr
ReplyDeletei think lynbrook is a spirited school but we need more work when it comes to supporting athletics. im so happy that you all are looking out for our student athletes and trying to make their experience better! maybe we can personalize chants next year so they are for specific athletes, sports, or positions. ty for putting on this event!
- esha
hey pr!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't at any of the football games so i wouldn't know how successful it was in practice but I think its a great idea to remedy our low spirit. Theres a lot of potential for a student section and maybe starting chants midgame? I think something else that would help is posting edited student section footage on a reel and then hopefully people will get fomo and show up? I think people who went to football games enjoyed the student section though so good job!
-hao
HEY PR!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with finally establishing a student section at Lynbrook. I liked how you guys chose more simple themes this year instead of starting off with super crazy themes and overwhelming people. I think to encourage sustainability, we can just re-use the same decs for the student section every time. Also, maybe make a poster indicating where the actual student section is because that was really confusing for some people (even for parents, since I saw so many parents sitting in the student section). Anyways, looking forward to hearing great things next year!
-satvik
hi pr !!
ReplyDeletei'm sure i've mentioned this before but i love the idea of a reusable student section banner that we can move around the gym/stadium for senior nights, hoco, etc. people like to feel like they're a part of something, and i feel like having a clearly delineated section for "spirited" people will naturally attract more people to participate. if you guys want to buy a pr set of noisemakers/handheld inflatables etc, that might also be a good idea. lastly, having someone who's good at working a crowd (like shy at hoco!) will be important for each time you guys host a student section.
- allison
Hello Pr,
ReplyDeleteI have an answer to this question: "What type of decorations should we do next year to make it more exciting?"
Starting off, I think more ways to make noise would be cool with chants being made up to create excitement. You could have people submit chants and then vote for them. Another idea would be creating large cutouts of the player's faces and just have them on pasted on cardboard + connected to poles. This way players know they are known. You could also encourage/create posters that say positive messages and just have them placed in the crowd.
